We will be
using a portion of iankerr.ca as a
means of asynchronous communication. This virtual space will allow everyone to
stay in touch outside of the classroom. Specifically, we will use the site to:
- disseminate
course materials (eg, handouts, powerpoint slides, tutorial information and supplementary exercises);
- ask
questions, post messages or share news items with each other (eg, continued
classroom discussion, reflections on life and law school, announcements,
relevant current events);
- share podcasts
of class lectures, files and photos.
The
instructors will be using this space as the main portal for dissemination outside
the classroom. All students are required
to register with the site at the start of the year.

For
students wishing to fortify their understanding of the law of contract through
alternative learning methods and by way of practical application, a
supplementary tutorial will be offered. Among other things, the tutorial will offer
a number of feedback mechanisms and self-assessment techniques on an ongoing
basis. Attendance and participation in the supplementary tutorial is optional.
The tutorial is offered by the course instructors and is separate and distinct
from the services offered by Student
Services’ “Academic Success Program”.

In addition to regular attendance, keeping pace with the
assigned readings and participating in classroom and online discussions,
students will ordinarily be required to complete two examinations. The first
examination will take place during the prescribed exam period in December
and will be worth 25% of the course grade. The final examination will take place during
the prescribed exam period in April and will be worth 75% of the
course grade. More information on the exams will become available as we
proceed.
