Katie Black

Katie Black is an alumna of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law and former member of the Kerr Nation. After graduating magna cum laude, she clerked for the Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin. Since being called to the bar in 2010, Katie has been active an active litigator, working in both English and French at Caza Saikaley LLP.

Maître Black est dédiée à l’accès à la justice. Elle présente sur entre autres sujets, le cyberféminisme et la régulation des cultures transgénétiques. Maître Black continue son affiliation avec l’Université d’Ottawa par l’organisation des symposiums sur des sujets divers. Actuellement elle enseigne le droit des contrats à la faculté avec Prof. Kerr. En tout, elle cherche à promouvoir un dialogue sur l’accès à la justice, le racisme et le système de classes sociales.

Ms. Black is also one of the co-founders of the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program, a national pro bono initiative brings together sponsorship experts, pro bono lawyers in all areas of practice, law students, and community organizations to offer direct support to Canadians seeking to sponsor refugees. In less than a year, the SSP has grown to 1,300 lawyers and law students helping Canadians, and the refugees they seek to sponsor.
